Culture of Cuba

Music/Dance

Cuban American community is one of the most important components of American culture as it brings their own unique culture which originates from both of customs and traces. One such influence shows itself in music and art. The artists like Chano Pozo and Celia Cruz introduced Cuban dances that involves music like rumba, Mambo, salsa, and conga that are characterized with rhythmic energetic rhythms that make the audience shout and get on the floor. They use drum, guitar and other string instruments for percussive elements. The Cuban Americans, including Amelia Paleoz, proudly exhibit their various ethnicities, South American/North American/African and European ones. They are all spectacular with their bright style.

Clothing

A traditional peice of clothing is the Guayabera. "The Guayabra is a traditional casual type of clothing in Cuba that is usually worn as shirts on men. On women, however, they become guayabera dresses, which button up, are made of light cotton or linen, have pockets and can be elaborately embroidered." (all 3)
